Daily Prayer – Isaiah 42:7

To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.

Daily Prayer

Lord, please forgive us for striving and competing–not only with others but with You. We have competed for the glory of winning, for worldly success, the approval of men, and so many other fleshly things. We have fallen into the devil’s trap of trying to be like God.

John 12:43 says, “for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” Thank you for leading us to the truth, so that we can see that we have used the gifts You have given us for our own glory. The gifts of marriage, motherhood, our family relationships, friendships, ministry, business and work have all been tainted with the lust of our flesh as we have tried to control outcomes, situations and circumstances to fit our own plans, instead of trusting Your Holy Spirit to reign.

Even as Christians, we have used our calling to bring ourselves glory. We were trying to be beautiful, but anything we do in competition with Your glory is appalling to You. Father, please forgive us for we could never, ever compete with Your Son, Who is holy and righteous. His glory is far above what we can see with our human eyes, and Your mercy goes far beyond our human understanding.

Thank You for flushing out the truth, so we can repent and surrender to Your authority. You eagerly wait to grant us mercy in every way. Thank You, Father God. In Jesus’ Holy Name we pray. Amen.

To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the dungeon
And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.
I am the Lord, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to idols. Isaiah 42:7-8 (NASB)
