…in Psalm 119:25, “My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!” And in verse 28, “My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!”

This life is full of struggles and temptations. As Christians, we are presented with opportunities to be faithful—tests. As we prove ourselves loyal, the King blesses us and promotes us in the spiritual realm. As we go on our way living our lives for Christ, our faithfulness continues to be tested.

No doubt, the Psalmist had recognized his failures and he prayed to God to give him life according to your word, and to strengthen me according to your word.

He wanted to be faithful, but he found himself failing. Have you been there? I have.

Praise the Lord for Jesus Christ, who said in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

When the Psalmist cried out to God for help, God answered him. That’s where we come to Psalm 119:30 where he says,

“I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.”

“Rule” is defined as: an established regulation or guide for conduct. He was rejoicing that he had been successful in following God’s rules, not man’s. He was courageous enough to stand for God and not bow to man, or to government.

A Crucial Decision

There will come a day when we will be faced with a crucial decision. Will we follow man’s rules and be a crowd-pleaser, or will we be loyal to God and follow what we know in our heart to be His established guide?

No doubt, it is a big risk to go against the grain. People, churches and organizations can turn on you in an instant, just like they did on Jesus when Pilate wanted to release Him.

The crowd shouted, “Crucify, crucify him!” They were urgent, demanding with loud cries that He be crucified. (Luke 23:21-23)

Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, submitted Himself in faithfulness to God; and not only to the Father, but to us—the very ones who sent Him to the cross.

Whatever we risk losing because of our faithfulness to God, we will gain multiplied over in His Kingdom, even here on earth. (Mark 10:29-30)

Study the Bible verse of Psalm 119:30 and stand strong in the face of trials and adversity in faithfulness to God. He will sustain you and bless you.
