Isaiah 43:19 is a refreshing Bible Verse where God promises us new things.

Isn’t it refreshing to get something new? Maybe it’s a new pair of shoes or some new clothes, or something for your house that you’ve had your eye on. It just feels good to get something new.

It’s also nice to have a change in our routine, maybe taking a different route to work or school, or taking a new class. Sometimes, we just need a little jolt to move us out of a rut. That’s kind of what God is saying in Isaiah 43:19. Let’s take a look at Isaiah 43:18-19 together.

Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. ¹⁹ Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

What does it mean when God tells us to forget the things of the past and to look at the new thing He will do?

Maybe the time has come to stop looking back and instead look forward. We can’t run to second base if our foot is stuck on first. We can’t move forward in confidence if we’re looking back at our failures.

Maybe God has already done something spectacular in our lives, and we just haven’t stopped long enough to realize it. The new thing is right in front of us–what we’ve been hoping for and praying for, but we’re too busy to really see it.

He’s waiting for us to notice it, to really stop and recognize that it is Him and not just a coincidence, or an unusual occurrence, but it’s something NEW.

Right in Front of You

We can be so distracted with chores, work and routine that we miss the new thing altogether. God says, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?

In other words, “Don’t you see it? It’s right in front of you!” Remember, God works in the supernatural, so we must look for Him and His beautiful work all around us.

• Maybe it’s a peaceful breakthrough in a relationship–harmony where there was strife and jealousy before.
• Maybe it’s a comfortable and settled feeling deep in our soul, something pleasant we’ve noticed lately that we’ve never felt before.
• Maybe we’ve noticed a positive tone and attitude from a loved one when we expected the usual pessimistic one.
• Maybe there has been an opportunity for new work, something that wouldn’t have been possible before.

“Shall you not know it?”

Look around you. See God and know He is near…nearer than He has been before. He waits for us to notice Him, to notice His amazing work in our lives, to see the answers to our prayers, our hopes and our dreams.

It might seem like a small thing, but it’s not. It’s GOD.

He has made a road in our wilderness, so we can find our way. He has made rivers in the desert, so we can permanently quench our thirst.

Praise the Lord! Stop, consider and see. And receive with gratitude. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. Hallelujah! Amen.
