Philippians 3:14 continued
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
continued…
…of what’s behind us, we must latch on to what’s ahead of us. And that is Christ.
He doesn’t expect us to let go without having something to hold onto. Look at what Paul said.
forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead…
We must reach forward. In order to reach for what is in front of us, we’re going to have to let go of what’s behind us. We can’t have both.
We’re only afraid to let go and reach forward if we don’t know what’s in front of us. If we believe it’s more suffering, we hesitate.
But if we believe Christ is there for us, if He’s there in front of us then we can face whatever it is, whether it’s the possibility of more suffering, or not. He has always gotten us through the painful moments of the past. The future would be no different.
He’s Got Us
Life is not a sure thing, as you probably have already discovered. We can’t go through one day with complete assurance that nothing will go wrong. What we can do however, is go forward with confidence knowing He’s got us, no matter what happens.
Though Paul didn’t know exactly what the future held, he knew this much:
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
He knew there was a prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Whether that prize is here on earth in this life or in Heaven in His glorious Presence, we know He’ll be there. He will never leave us or forsake us.
Matthew 28:20 says, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
If we have the assurance of His Presence, what are we afraid of? Pain? We’ve endured pain before and we can do it again, as long as we have the assurance of His Presence, something solid to hang on to. Jesus Christ is our Rock, our Anchor and Sure Hope. But we’ve got to let go of what’s behind and reach forward.
Are you willing to take a chance? Do you trust Him?
Reach toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. It’s there. In Him. Study the Bible verse of Philippians 3:14, and move forward.
