Unlocking the Truth – Give Life

Before Christ came, the people of Israel, God’s chosen people, were required to keep the 600+ commands and ordinances of the Old Testament, referred to as the letter in 2 Corinthians 3:6.

Some Greek meanings of the word “kills” are: away (from something near); separation, departure, cessation, reversal, etc.

That’s exactly what the law was—a substitution for the nearness of God. When Adam and Eve sinned, they were sent away from the Garden, where the intimate Presence of God dwelled. They became separated. The letter kills.

Now, 2 Corinthians 3:6 says the Spirit gives life. “Life” in the Greek means: make alive; quicken, to re-vitalize.

Remember, Jesus said He is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25), and after He ascended to the Father, the Holy Spirit was given.

Christ was the first of us to minister life. God raised Him from the dead, and Christ in turn, sent the Holy Spirit to raise us from the dead (the law, or letter that separated us from the nearness of God).

Now, because our vessels house the Holy Spirit, we have been raised from the dead. We now have the opportunity and privilege to minister that same resurrection and life to others. Wow! That’s mind-blowing!

But how?

God already said He made us adequate. Let’s press into Him, meditate on the Word of God and practice using the mind of Christ every day.

Our hearts (and minds) become one with His as we trust Him to lead us. He shows us the way one step at a time.

Bless His Holy Name!
