But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

Psalm 5:7 is a Bible verse in the Old Testament where David is praying for protection from the wicked while acknowledging the abundant mercy of God as the reason he is able to enter the house of God.
There are many places in the world where we can look and see the evidence of the wrath of God. The news is full of it—violence, crime, wars and catastrophes of all kinds. All of this is a result of the sin of man.
As nations and peoples turn their backs to Him in rejection, apathy and disregard of a Sovereign and Holy God, His wrath is kindled. Many times, we look past all of our blessings supplied to us by Him, and proudly and/or ignorantly take credit for the good in our lives, when it really is only because of God’s mercy.
Lamentations 3:22 says, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”
We wonder at the dysfunction in our families, but many times it is a result of the sins of the generations who came before us that we inherited and kept alive by our own sin.
How wonderful it would be if we could all have a dysfunction-free family, to belong to a family where there was no division, no addiction, no violence in action or word, no sickness and no poverty. Can you imagine it?
It does exist…in the house of God.
