Philippians 2:2 is a Bible verse from the New Testament where Paul implores the church to come together in their hearts and minds toward one another.
I recently saw a sign that said, “Health and healing begin with the spine.” It made sense because it was in front of a chiropractic clinic. The spinal cord is of great importance in our physical anatomy because combined with the brain, it makes up our central nervous system.
When I read Philippians 2:2 where Paul stresses the importance that we be of the same mind and of one accord, it clicked. Being of one accord is like the statement on the sign. Health and healing in the church begin by being of one accord with one another.
The attitude of our heart and the thoughts of our minds toward one another are critically important because our relationships with each other are the backbone of the church.
Unlocking the Truth – Feeling Love
When we can think the best toward one another and not fall into suspicions and judgments, we overcome the devil’s scheme to keep us divided, and thereby form a stronger, healthier core or family of God.
We greatly underestimate the power of unity, where we are truly concerned for the welfare of each other and not hindered by our own selfish desires and ambitions.
When we open our hands (and hearts) to God and are willing to give up our own way and will, we form a stronger bond or union with Him and also with our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
Seek Christ, not Feelings
If we’re having trouble feeling love toward others, we only need to go to the well (and keep going) to fill up with the living water that is Jesus Christ. We must be careful that it is Him we are seeking and not the feelings we desire. He alone quenches our thirst and satisfies our hunger. All we could ever need and want is in Him.
If you struggle with doubts or fears about that (or anything else), go to Him and give Him the chance to fill you up. Ask Him. Don’t be afraid.
In Philippians 2:2, Paul said to have the same love. We all have access to the same love. It’s the same well…Jesus Christ. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins. His blood covers all. Run to Him so He can make you clean.
His blood filters out all the impurities, all the uncleanliness and everything that makes us feel unworthy and unloved. He makes us whole. He makes us clean. He makes us well again.
His Name is Jesus Christ.
