Isaiah 40:31 is a popular Bible verse where God promises a renewal of strength to those who wait upon Him.
Let’s face it. Some days it’s just really hard to get out of bed. Even after a full night’s sleep, we still don’t feel rested. We feel weak, not only in our body but in our mind.
The way we feel in our body can determine our thoughts and set our attitude for the day, particularly if we feel poorly, for whatever reason. We have the mind of Christ and we can articulate the verses of the Bible, but when we are weak or sick in our bodies, it can be a half-hearted attempt at overcoming our predicament.
No matter how big our faith is or how Christ-like we are, there are some things that are just too big for us to conquer. We need help. We need a Savior. We need Him to take action, because we’re just not getting it done.
Our best sacrifices, biggest faith and greatest hope are powerful forces in the Kingdom of God, but unless (or until) God acts, our situation remains. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end.
No matter how desperate we are, we cannot move God. There is no magic formula or perfectly worded prayer that “works every time”. He is God. He is not programmed like a computer or created like a man.
Unlocking the Truth – Strength Renewed
Acts 17:28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” We are completely and utterly dependent upon Him and His mercy. We are “built into Him” if you will. That’s why we must wait upon the Lord, as it says in Isaiah 40:31. We must come to the conclusion that He is completely and totally God, and everything is absolutely out of our control.
It may look like we have certain things under our control, but in fact we do not. Sometimes, we wind up in a position where we become painfully aware of that. No matter how “good” we are, how many “hail Mary’s” we’ve recited or how many prayers we’ve sent up, He alone is God.
And He will not be moved.
When we come to the point of yielding our throne to His, He is much more likely to act. (Isaiah 40:31)
