The torture of wondering what will happen, or being afraid of what will happen is worse than actually going through the thing we fear. When Queen Esther accepted her fate—probable death one way or the other—she called on God and then moved forward.

Esther 4:16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”

She faced her fear of death, and moved right through it, leaving the outcome to God the Father.

It’s like a great prize hidden behind a door, but when we open it up all we see and feel is darkness and fear, so we quickly close the door and run away, leaving the prize unclaimed.

If we really believe God and submit to His authority, then we follow the example of Christ and go back to open the door, accepting the difficulty that awaits, but knowing there is something great on the other side of the darkness.

With the help of Christ, we walk through it hand-in-hand with Him until we come to the bright light—the prize that was promised. We find that the beauty of His glory was not only for us, but for many others, as well. Then we understand and identify with Christ and His immense love for us—all of us.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:25, “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

What’s Your Dilemma?

We each have a choice like this at some point in our lives—either cling to what we have out of fear of losing it, or give our life to God for His glory and for the good of others in submission to Christ, accepting His perfect plan.

That’s the example Jesus gave us when He gave up His life, and that’s the example God the Father gave us when He gave up His Own Son.

What about you? Are you facing a dilemma? Do you feel the call of God to do the difficult thing?

Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14

There is a great purpose for our suffering. God’s plan includes all of His children. It’s not just about us. Whatever that difficult thing is we’re facing, He will be glorified through it, and through us.

Study the Bible verse of Esther 4:14, recognize your opportunity and responsibility, and submit to God’s authority. His grace is sufficient for us. Amen.
