Ephesians 1:7-10 (ESV)

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Bible Commentary:

The Bible verses of Ephesians 1:7-10 are powerful and rich with substance, teaching about the grace of God and how we can access Christ for abundance in every area of our lives–physical health, emotional health, relationships and finances. Jesus’ blood is so powerful! God required a perfect sacrifice as payment for sin—yours and mine—in order for us to be reconciled to him, to Heaven. Thanks to the love of the Father, Jesus came and lived the perfect life for us.

As humans, we are unable to follow all the instructions set forth in the Bible, no matter how hard we try or how committed we are. We cannot go one day without having an improper thought or word. But Jesus wasn’t just a man, He was both God and man. He fulfilled every rule and every law in the Bible and then as the perfect sacrifice (or substitute), which God required, He paid the penalty for our sins by giving up His life (Ephesians 1:7).

Think on that for a moment. If you are a parent, you can imagine what a sacrifice that must have been for God, the Father.

If you have accepted Jesus and His sacrifice for your life, all your sins are gone—past, present and future! Jesus paid the price with His own blood. The challenge for us is believing it.

We have an amazing opportunity to live a life completely free from guilt, fear and shame—all the mistakes and failures from our past! This is the riches of His grace that He lavished upon us (Ephesians 1:8). We can be free from the chains that bind us, whatever they are. Everything we need to be whole—in every part of our life—is available to us in God’s grace, no matter how messed up things might seem right now!

Mystery of His Will

Ephesians 1:9 above says He makes known to us the mystery of His will. We recognize His will for our life if we are seeking it. Christ Himself said, “Seek, and you will find” (Matthew 7:7).

If we study His Word, then we are seeking and will surely find. That is part of the plan He speaks of in Ephesians 1:10, for us to seek so that He can give us more of Himself. There is no greater Gift!

As we grow closer to Him, He unites us together in perfect harmony. Holy matrimony and perfect harmony is supernatural, so it must be established in the spiritual realm with God the Father before it can be achieved in the earthly realm.

Only when we recognize Him as our first love (Revelation 2:4) will He begin to reveal more of Himself to us through another person here on earth. The Bible says He is a jealous God; we must seek Him first before He will enrich our other relationships (Exodus 20:3-4).

Jesus Christ is already uniting all things to Himself—here on earth and in Heaven. Remember the prayer He taught His disciples in Matthew 6:10, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

The closer we grow toward Christ, the more we can experience Heaven here on earth. What amazing grace!! Study the Bible verses of Ephesians 1:7-10 and gain understanding of the grace of God, His forgiveness, and enjoy healing and abundance in every area of your life.
