Bible Commentary
Colossians 3:15 is a Bible Verse that shows us how to have peace in our lives, and gives us the key ingredient to wealth.
Wow, if you stop and think about it, if we have peace in our lives that in itself is great wealth. We might not recognize the wealth and wonder of the peace we have been given through Christ unless we take time to remember how uptight we were before we knew Christ.
As Christians, we are wealthy. Our walk with Him is a daily discovery of the fortune and favor He grants us because we are His child. However, we are the ones who choose to participate with Him on that discovery of wealth, or not.
Colossians 3:15 makes it clear that we have a choice, “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
We Get to Choose
We can choose to be wealthy and make the decision to let Christ rule in our hearts, or we can allow our fleshly nature to rule. The former brings peace, and the latter brings strife and stress.
Each day we encounter situations, which bring us to various crossroads along the way. We must make decisions continually about how we will react or respond. One reaction takes us along one path, and a different response takes us to a completely different place, spiritually speaking.
We reap the results of our choices—good or bad.
Have you ever been pleasantly surprised about how you feel when you withhold an outburst of frustration? Instead of the pressure of irritation mounting higher with no release, to your surprise you actually feel more peaceful!?
That’s Christ!
Notice Colossians 3:15 says, “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…” The peace of Christ rules in our hearts as we let Him.
It’s so simple, and yet this business of meekness (power under control) is not easy. But with Christ, we can do all things.
What wealth we have available to us in Christ!
