John 14:2 is a Bible verse where Jesus tells us what our future is like with Him. These words spoken by Christ have been the topic of much curious conversation over the ages.
The entire passage in John 14 drew questions and curiosity from the Disciples, as well. When Christ spoke these words, it was after the Last Supper and prior to His arrest and subsequent torture and crucifixion.
He had a lot to say to His friends and Disciples, critically important things they needed to know and remember because He was leaving them soon. Let’s look at the first words He spoke to them from that long conversation.
John 14:1-2 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
His Disciples had been with him for quite some time. They left their way of life and living to follow Him. And now He was going away? They were most certainly uncomfortable, unsettled and probably afraid.
Unlocking the Truth – Your Mansion
They had expected Him to rise up as king or at least High Priest to deliver them from the oppression of the Romans. What devastating news that not only was a political uprising not going to happen, but He was leaving them! No wonder He told them Let not your heart be troubled.
Notice He also told them ye believe in God, believe also in me.
He knew they had to have faith in order to receive the wonderful gift that was about to be offered. It would not look like a gift. No, instead it looked like Hell. Jesus said…click to continue
