Bible Commentary
Psalm 25:19 is a Bible verse in the Old Testament, where King David is earnestly seeking God’s deliverance from his enemies.
Before King David became king, he had to fight for his life in many circumstances, as his enemies were seeking to kill him. Though God had anointed him as the next king, it was a long time before that promise came to pass.
God’s hand of favor and blessing were upon David, yet it was for this very reason that David had such vehement enemies. Jealousy and envy are very powerful tools of the devil, and he has caused much havoc and destruction with them.
David was in a spiritual battle, which transformed into actual warfare.

In Psalm 25:19, the word “enemy” in Hebrew means: hating; an adversary. In Webster’s dictionary, it also means: one seeking to injure, overthrow, or confound an opponent; something harmful or deadly.
In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
When Jesus said “thief”, He was referring to the devil—Satan. In Psalm 25:19, I believe David is also referring to the devil who is the enemy of our souls. David was familiar with spiritual warfare.
