Proverbs 18:10 (NASB)

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.

Bible Commentary

Proverbs 18:10 is a Bible verse that brings us comfort by the power of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When our heart is broken over a tragedy or loss, the pain can be unbearable, and we are desperate to find a glimmer of hope to cling to. We want to turn back the clock and erase the sorrow.

Things that were important to us before have little meaning now. Our perspective changes. The things we identified with before become just a hollow ring in our ears. If we just had a chance to do things over, to do them differently we could erase the agony of guilt, sorrow or death.

In dark times, we feel exposed, unsafe and insecure. The sharp arrows of the enemy’s darts have hit their target, and nothing can undo it.

The Answer

There is always an answer and healing ointment to soothe the pain of a broken heart. God’s Word is the answer and the comfort we so desperately need. Proverbs 18:10 is that glimmer we seek.

There is nothing more powerful than the Name of Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 says,

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
