Matthew 15:28 (NASB)

Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.”  And her daughter was healed at once.

Bible Commentary

Matthew 15:28 (NASB) is a Bible verse in the New Testament where Jesus is commending a woman and granting her request for healing because of her faith.

There may be times of great need in your life when God seems distant and very quiet.

Though we are assured of His love for us as we remember the cross and His Son, Jesus Christ, it may seem at times He is not paying attention to us in a time of crisis.

If you read the story in Matthew 15:21-28, you’ll see this desperate Canaanite woman cried out for help multiple times. Her daughter was demon-possessed, and she was in crisis. Yet note what it says in Matthew 15:23, “But He did not answer her a word.”

His disciples asked Him to send her away because “she keeps shouting at us.” This mother was persistent and loud.

When Jesus finally answered her, it wasn’t the response she was hoping for.

She wanted His healing hand to deliver her daughter, but He told her He was only sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and that it was not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.

That was a defining moment for this woman. She could have turned away in bitterness. She could have given up. But she didn’t.

Instead, she humbled herself and responded with faith. “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

She believed Jesus was Lord. She had addressed him as such.

She didn’t argue with what He said. She didn’t complain about it not being fair. She believed and accepted what He said and then responded in faith.

Faith will always evoke a response from God. Jesus’ response in Matthew 15:28, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as your wish.”

Our faith is what is pleasing to God (Hebrews 11:6).

Unlocking the Truth – Physical Healing

Let’s look at a time when Jesus was in crisis Himself in the Garden of Gethsemane. His soul was grieved to the point His sweat became like drops of blood (Luke 22:44).

He prayed, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 44:42)

Whether God granted His request or not, He gave up His will for the Father’s. May the Lord grant us strength to do the same when we are in crisis.

Jesus surrendered to the Father and accepted His fate, His Father’s perfect will, trusting that God had good in mind.

Look at Hebrews 12:2, “…Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross…”

Because of the joy that was waiting for Him in His Father’s Presence, He had courage to move forward–toward the crisis of the cross.

He gave His body to the Father, trusting Him with the outcome.

Jesus reached beyond death, beyond the physical world to victory.

So we must reach beyond the natural to the Supernatural (Christ) for victory, for healing.

Study the Bible verse of Matthew 15:28, and gain the courage to model your life after Christ, and may physical healing be granted you.
