Mark 9:23 (NKJV)
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Bible Commentary:
Mark 9:23 is a famous Bible verse in the New Testament where Jesus is teaching us that faith can produce miracles. Let’s look at this story in the Bible where Jesus responded to a father who was asking Jesus to heal his son from a demon.
Mark 9:21–24 (NIV)
Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
You see, Jesus knows that our faith is small. It’s okay to ask him to help our unbelief. He will give us a boost of faith if we ask Him. After all, we have the richest source of faith living inside of us—Jesus Himself! Draw on His faith from within.
Remember, if you have accepted Christ as your Saviour, He lives inside you. Practice drawing from Him like a well of living water, and your faith will grow. Jesus said it many times in the New Testament of the Bible, “Your faith has made you well.”
Unlocking the Truth – Miracles
Speaking of God’s rest, Hebrews 3:19 (ASV) says, “So we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.”
We can’t receive a gift unless we believe it exists. And if we believe it exists, then let’s reach out and take it. He left the choice to us.
Ask yourself if you really believe that Jesus can and will heal you from your disease. If not, ask Him to help you overcome your unbelief, as the father in the story did. If we already believe, then let’s ask Him to increase our faith. It can be bigger. The miracles we desire in our life require faith.
