Revelation22:2Pg2
Revelation 22:2 (NKJV) In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Look what else is special about the tree. It bares fruit—yielding its fruit every month. It doesn’t produce only one kind of fruit like the trees we’re used to. It yields twelve different kinds of fruit—Wow!
And not only that, Revelation 22:2 says the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. This is a bit harder to wrap our heads around. The Greek meaning for “leaves” is: a sprout, an offshoot, kindred or tribe.
In other words, the leaves represent people–individuals, groups, or local church bodies, for example. As children of God and followers of Christ, we are a part of this tree of life.
Be Fruitful and Multiply
God tells us to bear fruit (Genesis 1:28). Jesus said that He is the vine and we are the branches (John 15:5). As long as we hitch our wagon to His so-to-speak, we can’t help but bear fruit.
We abide in Him (drink the living water) and He bears fruit through us. Our fruit is the legacy and heritage we leave behind us, not just after our physical life is over, but now in the present. Every day we leave behind us some kind of heritage. Abiding in Christ is the assurance that it is pleasing to God.
We all want to know that our life—our work and effort—make a difference, that it’s not just an empty routine without something good to show for it.
That’s precisely what Revelation 22:2 is telling us. As followers of Christ, we are taking part in the healing of the nations. It doesn’t get any more meaningful and important than that!
Jesus Christ is the tree of life—the vine—and we are the branches. Together, we produce leaves and fruit. God designed us with the potential to produce a particular kind of fruit—one of twelve. The leaves usually sprout before the fruit. Psalm 1:3 says of one who abides in God’s Word:
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
In other words, it takes time. Abiding in Christ helps us develop our potential—the gifts God put inside us. It’s up to us to abide in Christ so that those gifts produce fruit.
We have amazing potential to leave a lasting heritage because we were created by a Holy and Loving God.
The effects of joining with Christ are like a match made in heaven—a marriage. Christ is coming back for His bride. Are you ready?
Study the Bible verse of Revelation 22:2, and recognize the heritage hidden within you. Be aware of it and pursue it. Pursue Him.
