Have you ever felt worthless, unloved and all alone?
At some point in our lives, we have probably all felt this way in some form or another. Satan is the master at reminding us of all our shortcomings. He loves to try and drive a wedge between Christians and Jesus, and since he cannot drive Jesus away from us, he tries to drive us away from Jesus.
By believing Satan’s lies, we become depressed, bad thoughts fill our minds and we start tearing ourselves down. But look at what Psalm 139:1-6 says:
Psalm 139:1-6
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. 3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all. 5 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Psalm 139:1 says He searches us and knows us. God doesn’t merely see us, He looks into the deepest part of us. He loves us so much that He delves down deep into our most intimate being. If we were worthless to God, why would he even take the time to do this?
Verses 2 and 3 continue, You know when I sit, when I rise up and You know my thoughts. You scrutinize my path, my lying down and know all my ways. We are so valuable to God that He watches us during our day-to-day routine, simple things like sitting down and getting up. He knows our every thought. He closely examines our day all the way up to the time we go to sleep.
This literally means God is not only watching us, but He is with us at every point of our day.
Remember What God Says About You
Verse 4, Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all. God already knows the word we will speak. In fact, we are so valuable to Him that He knows every single detail about us, inside and out.
Verse 5 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. God’s love for us is so strong, that He places His hand upon us and provides a hedge of protection around us.
Lastly in verse 6 David says, Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Charles Spurgeon in his commentary had this to say about Psalm 139:6.
“I cannot grasp it. I can hardly endure to think of it. The theme overwhelms me. I am amazed and astounded at it. Such knowledge not only surpasses my comprehension, but even my imagination.”
So the next time Satan attacks you with lies about your worthiness, and you feel overwhelmed in your thoughts or emotions, remember what God’s Word says about His love for you and just how much you mean to Him!
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
We were “hand-made” by God. We were made in His image and therefore, we are valuable and special to Him. We are the striking image of a remarkable and amazingly beautiful God. The cross is evidence of the beauty of His love, so let the cross and the Word of God be your daily reminder of the high value you hold in the Father’s heart.
