1 Timothy 2:5-6 is a Bible passage that gives all glory to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, for the salvation of our souls.
Have you ever been in a church sanctuary or even in a place in nature, where you felt the air of Divinity? You were actually in awe by the Presence of God? You just knew in your soul He was there? There’s nothing like it.
Or maybe it wasn’t as clear what you were experiencing, but driving down the road, you felt a brightness in your soul and for some reason you were unusually happy and pleased with everything and everyone around you, seeing the positive and not the negative. It was like looking at the world through a lens of light that made everything beautiful.
We might attribute it to a random good mood and go on down the road, enjoying it and hoping it remains with us, not recognizing that random good mood as the Light of the World—Jesus Christ. Luke 1:68 says, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people.”
God visited us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Yes, He visited us as a baby who grew up to change the world by the gift of grace and mercy from the Father. But He still visits His people today, in many different ways at different times through all kinds of circumstances and places.
Our verse of the day, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, points to Jesus Christ as the one and only mediator between us and God when it says, “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all…”
The rebellious act of sin created a huge gulf in our relationship with God, and the only One Who could fill the gap was His Son. There is no other man or name who can reconcile us back to God the Father, except Christ alone (Acts 4:12).
Unlocking the Truth – Acceptable Sacrifice
Because Jesus Christ was man and Deity, He was able to live a sinless life. There was no sin to clutter the holy and harmonious communion He enjoyed with His Father; nothing to hinder the love of the Father from flowing through His heart and life, and nothing to interrupt Christ’s continual awareness of His Father’s Presence.
And so Christ walked with a continual freshness of life and vitality. He lived intimately and harmoniously with His Father and therefore shared His Father’s heart of holy desires.
We see this in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus willingly bowed to His Father’s will and accepted the work of the cross, for the love of His Father and for the love of mankind. 1 Timothy 2:6 says, “who gave Himself as a ransom for all…”
Think for a moment. What is it God may be asking you to bow to, so He can express His love through it? Maybe you submitted to His will long ago, and it’s been a constant strain and struggle in your relationships, or your job, or your health, or your finances.
What a relief when He reveals to us that all of our struggles have been for His pleasure and for the good of others. It was an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God (Philippians 4:18). Maybe we didn’t recognize anything good from it, until now. And when He opens our eyes to His love being poured out through it, like the cross, we fall to our knees in humble adoration.
Sharing in Christ’s Sufferings
We’ve been sharing in Christ’s sufferings and didn’t even understand that until now. It was for Him.
It was for others. For their good and for our good.
He has and is accomplishing something beautiful from the pain and the ashes, just like He did with the cross. We can now identify with the cross, and with Christ!
Hallelujah! Glory to God. It wasn’t for nothing. It wasn’t wasted. He is using it to somehow restore, replenish and renew.
When we see the good He promised (Romans 8:28), it makes all the struggles and strain just melt away as Love washes over us and fills in all the gaps.
Jesus Christ, the one mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5).
Christ is the Only One who can wash away the wasteland and replenish us with healing, fresh love and new life (Isaiah 62:4). He does it every day. He’s doing it even now. Breathe in love, breathe in healing, breathe in fresh New Life.
