Paul’s Powerful Prayer

by Jean Bradley

The following passage is a prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed over the Ephesian church. It is a special prayer that is seeking and asking God for the Fullness of His Love. The Lord has drawn me back to this powerful passage, so I wanted to help you tap into that power today.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (NKJV)

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Some years ago, the Lord taught me to pray this section over myself every day and to make it personal. I prayed this, the first time, for a period of about 6 months. It changed me and softened my heart, so that the Lord could start His healing there.

A Heart Filled with God’s Love

Not only does the Love of God heal, but it is also very powerful. God is Love and so everything that is good flows out of the heart that is filled with His Love!

May I encourage you to commit to pray this prayer every day. Ask the Holy Spirit to make it alive to you. I am confident it will change you, as it did me. It is always powerful to pray the Word of God! It is a weapon, and when we pray it over ourselves it will do what it says.

I have personalized the prayer for you:

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant ‘me’, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in ‘my’ inner man, that Christ may dwell in ‘my’ heart through faith; that ‘I’, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that ‘I’ may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that ‘I’ ask or think, according to the power that works in ‘me’, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
