Dominion ~ Revelation

Let’s go back to the beginning to see a special and important gift God gave us. When God created man He created him in His image. Genesis 1:26 says:

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, OVER ALL THE EARTH, and over all the creatures that move along the ground”. (NIV)

We have probably read this important passage many times, but let’s take a moment to fully grasp what over all the earth really is…it is dominion.

The definition of dominion is: 1. sovereignty or control; “man’s attempt to establish dominion over nature” synonyms: supremacy, ascendancy, dominance, domination, superiority, predominance, preeminence, primacy, hegemony, authority, mastery, control, command, direction, power, sway, rule, government, jurisdiction, sovereignty, lordship

Psalm 22:28 says, for dominion belongs to the Lord and He rules over the nations.

Satan was Kicked Out

God made us in His image and likeness. When Satan was thrown out and banished from Heaven because of his rebellion and revolt against God, he was thrown out with nothing. Isaiah 14:12 says,

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! (NIV)

Genesis 3:1 tells us about the serpent that tempted Adam and Eve to disobey God’s instruction not to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Revelations 12:9 tells us that the ancient serpent is the devil, Satan.

By disobeying God, man lost his dominion over all the earth which was stolen by Satan. This is how Satan became the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4), by deceiving and stealing what was not his!

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10). In His mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us by paying the price for us on the cross.

Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 3:23 tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Jesus paid the price for all mankind, if we would choose Him as our Lord and Saviour.

In Christ We Have Authority Over the Devil

When Jesus defeated the devil, He gave back to man–us–authority over the devil. Ephesians 1:22 says that everything has been placed under Jesus’ feet, including the devil, therefore as the Body of Christ, the devil is under our feet, too! Jesus gave us back the dominion the devil stole. Hallelujah!!

Matthew 11:12 says: From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and violent men take it by force.

How do we do this? By speaking the Word, declaring the Word, by binding and loosing (Matt 18:18). This is how we walk out our victory, taking dominion, in Jesus’ Name!

Father God, we come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You make real and tangible to us that when we are in You, in Jesus, we are the majority!! That no matter what the situation is or what the circumstances are, we are winners when we put all our trust in You and obey each step as You lead us step-by-step. Thank You Lord, for Your Faithfulness to us and for loving us more than we can even understand! We Love You, Jesus! Amen!
