Daily Prayer – John 1:4-5

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Father, we know that in Jesus Christ is life, and He is the light of men. Without the brightness of Jesus Christ, there would be only darkness—inside and out. And so we thank You for Your great mercy for giving us the Light of the World, which shines greater than the noon day. Father God, because we are in Christ as children of God by of Your great mercy, we stand fast in the light of Christ, forsaking the darkness that we have been clinging to for fear of the light shining upon it.

There is no fear in Jesus Christ, for there is no darkness in Him. Because there is no darkness in Christ, there is no darkness in us. We recognize our fear as a lie, which resembles the devil and not You, and so we reach past the fear for the truth, and invite the Light of Christ to shine in every cell of our bodies, every thought in our minds, and every desire and emotion in our hearts.

When the light of Christ shines upon it, the darkness cannot overcome it. We are victorious in the Light of Christ, turning our back on the lies and letting go of whatever we have been clinging to in fear. Your grace is more than sufficient for us. We praise You, Lord! Thank You!! Amen.
