Leviticus 26:10 is a Bible verse in the Old Testament where God is describing the effects of walking in obedience to Him and His commandments. This verse is representative of a very basic principle in God’s Word, which is this: In order to receive the new, we must trust Him to let go of the old. This is fundamental in walking with the Lord. When we accepted Christ as our Savior and Lord, we let go of what we knew so we could receive Christ and a new way of living. As He leads us on our spiritual journey with Him, many times He directs us to give up certain things or relationships, so He can bless us with more of Him and His gifts. In other words, with our willingness, He cleans out the old to make room for the New. And then sometimes He takes what is already there and instead of replacing it with something else, He transforms it. Revelation 21:5 says, “…Behold, I am making all things new.” God is Master. With Him, all things are possible (Mark 9:23). Leviticus 26:10 says, “You will eat the old supply and clear out the old because of the new.” Many times, there is something old in our hearts that needs clearing out. It could be unforgiveness, bitterness, a wrong assumption or condemning attitude we’ve had for a long, long time that we weren’t even aware of…until God reveals it to us. Unlocking the Truth – The New Comes In For me personally, one thing that was hidden for a long time was a condemning attitude in my heart toward God. I didn’t know it, but I was blaming Him for things that didn’t turn out like I wanted. He revealed it to me through something simple I tried to help a loved one with. I did everything I knew to do, but it didn’t work. It would have been a good thing to help, but I couldn’t. Frustration set it, and I blamed God. I didn’t want to accept the fact that she could get help from someone else. I wanted to do it for her, but God had something better in mind. And instead of trusting Him to do that, I resented it. Jesus is the truth, the way and the life (John 14:6). When truth is revealed, it sets the prisoners free. Because of His great love, Jesus Christ was willing to be condemned for me and BY me. How great is His mercy! His compassions are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23). Praise the Lord! This is an example of “eating the old” as Leviticus 26:10 says. “Eat” in Hebrew means: to eat, burn up, consume, devour. The word, “old” in Hebrew means: to be slack, sleep; to die, grow old, stale, remain long. Some Hebrew meanings of “Clear out” are: to go, bring out, appear, be condemned, pull out. In order to burn up or devour the old—the slack or stale–it must be pulled out or appear to us. When our hearts are cleaned out, so then everything that stems from our hearts can also be cleaned up, and the new comes in behind and fills in all the empty places. This is the most exciting part—the new. In Hebrew, “new” means: fresh, new thing; to rebuild, renew or repair. Notice Leviticus 26:10 says because of the new. We have a great incentive to clear out the old (with all its meanings and implications) when we see and sense the new. Jesus goes before us and brightens our path with the fresh and new. · The fresh replaces the stale. · Youth and vigor replace slack and sleep. · Excitement replaces dullness. · Joy and enthusiasm replaces the mundane and boring. · Regeneration replaces the decay of growing old. · New life replaces death. · Honor replaces obscurity. · Prosperity replaces poverty. Remember, He makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). Study the Bible verse of Leviticus 26:10 to let go of the old and make way for the new. Jesus Christ is the way.

Thank You, Lord, for gently untangling us one addiction at a time. As You do you a meticulous work in the Spirit, it is difficult to patiently endure. But we wait on You, Lord, for we know that You work all things together for good for those who love You. We trust You and we trust the work You are doing in us and through us.

Strengthen our hearts as we wait on You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
