1 John 1:9 (NASB)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Bible Commentary
We at Daily-Bible-Verse.net have received several messages from believers who are worried that their sin is not forgiven, even though they have truly repented and asked God for forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 is very clear on this. The verse says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
When we doubt that God could or would actually forgive us because of the depth of our sins (or any other reason), it’s like saying, “Jesus, your death on the cross was not enough to save me.”
We must stop believing the lies of the enemy and believe the Truth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus’ whole purpose for coming to earth was to save us. He lived the perfect life and died a sinless death, so that we can live under the forgiveness of His sacrifice.
When Christ uttered the words, “It is finished” from the cross, He meant it. It was done. His purpose on this earth had been fulfilled and Satan and death were defeated.
Unlocking the Truth – All Sins Are Forgiven
There are probably many of you out there saying right now, “but you don’t know what I have done, my sins are too big to forgive.”
Again, that is believing a lie. That is listening to false prophets. The first part of 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins,” notice it didn’t say if those who have committed small sins or less serious sins. No, it just says to confess our sins.
Hebrews 10:17 says, “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
Once we ask for forgiveness He does not even remember our sins; they are wiped away and forgotten.
It is our choice to live in the freedom of Christ, or to be bound by the chains of lies from Satan and other false teachers. Let us believe the words of Jesus and accept His precious gift.
